Benefits of Flaxseed Oil for Women

Before I begin to explain the benefits of flaxseed oil for women, I always like to properly explain what the origin of anything I propose to put into my body actually is.

Flax in its basic form is simply a plant with thin stems and they can have blue or red flowers. The actual flax seeds which you can buy in any good supermarket can be used for cooking or crushing.

Flaxseed oils which are produced when you crush the seeds contain large amounts of Omega 3. I always like to put in a disclaimer and if you have any doubts you should check with your doctor or pharmacist to give you peace of mind.

Flaxseed Oil Benefits for Women

There are several benefits for women and it appears that this is especially true for ladies going through the menopause. Flax contains a number of lignans in their seeds and this helps women who are lacking in estrogen. Just so you know lignans are a collective term for a group of chemical compounds found in many plants.

Close friends of my daughter recommended she take flaxseed oil during her pregnancy as the oil contains folate which helps with good foetus development. Folate is better known to many as folic acid and is popular to help with heart and different nerve developments of the foetus.

For ladies specifically research has shown that it can help with the reduction of breast cancer risk, regulation of periods, easing Pre Menstrual Tension and a general strengthening of the bones.

Breast cancer is something all ladies have a natural fear of and that is quite natural. It would be ridiculous to make any claims that this would be a cure for that and also highly misleading.  There is evidence and research available that states that lignan in flaxseed will help lower the levels of estrogen in your body.

Flaxseed Oil Products

Flax seed oils are usually sold in capsules and what many people don't realise is that they do have a very short shelf life.  Keep them refrigerated otherwise they will go off quickly and start to smell.  Another useful tip is to keep these ot of the light and in a dark bottle.

There is also evidence that women will benefit from taking flaxseed oil capsules on a regular daily basis. It certainly would appear to have preventative attributes for so many problems that mainly affect women. You may already know that women are always at risk of developing calcium deficiencies.  Having a flaxseed supplement will certainly improve your overall health and well being.

As a general rule Omega is found in fish and if you eat this regularly you are probably getting enough Omega into your body which is a very good thing.  These type of fatty acids help your body in many ways.  A close friend of mine suffered from osteoporosis which gave her stiff bone problems and by taking flaxseed oil, she has noticed an improvement.

Many women who suffer from tension leading up to the period cycle have said it helps greatly with the symptoms of mood swings, mild depression, cramps in the tummy and that general bloated feeling.

I have not found any evidence to support these claims but on various forums on the Internet ladies have said it has improved hair shine and small skin blemishes.

There are a number of components but the key ones are:

The key is that they all contain essential fatty acids.

There are other benefits of flaxseed oil that would apply to both sexes and include controlling cholesterol, improving the health of the bowel, removing toxics, helping with heart related problems and to treat minor skin problems and itchiness.

In general the benefits of flaxseed oil for women appear to be many and if used properly can help prevent many symptoms and health issues.
